[Joule]

Joule stared down at the drop. He could barely make out the people walking by in the street bellow - they were like tiny dots moving along.

"Really, it will be fine," he put a hand on Kade's back reassuringly. "Trust me!"

He wasn't entirely sure how their date- no it was not a date, it was simply two teammates going out to the city together to have a good time, that was all - had turned to this. Something about powers and dares and living your life to the fullest.

"So you just jump and I'll stop you before you hit the ground! Like bungee jumping except without being tied to anything. It'll be awesome!"

[Zenith]

Looking down at the street, Kade couldn't help but feel a just a little bit terrified about this. He wasn't afraid of heights, he never had been. That kind of fear was something that you got over when you could actually fly. But this wasn't flying, this was falling. While someone else had to make sure that his brains didn't get splattered all over the road and the unsuspecting pedestrians.

"You know, when I said 'let's do something fun', this isn't exactly what I had in mind," he joked, his nervous laugh betraying his apprehension.

Shaking his head, he looked away from the drop and at Joule instead. This guy was definitely insane. "Alright," he grinned, "Let's do this. Fucking yolo, right?" With that, he pulled his goggles down over his eyes and stepped out onto the edge. Right, yeah, so maybe he was the insane one here.

He took a breath, glanced over his shoulder at Joule, and then jumped.

"No, no, I am certain this is much better than anything you had in mind!"

Joule watched Kade as he jumped, feeling a slight thrill at someone trusting them with their life like this. No one had ever trusted him with anything before - not even a goldfish. And now Kade was willing to fall just because he'd told him to. The idea both excited and terrified me.

Can't screw this up.

He stared down at Kade, not losing him from his sight for an instant. With a hand extended over the edge he could feel his mass, he could feel him falling. Joule waited until the last possible moment to begin slowing down Kade's speed, until eventually tugging him upwards, roughly enough to give him a rush but gently enough for him to remain unharmed. He let him dangle there in the air, for the feeling to sink in, before raising him all the way up to the building again.

Kade tried very hard not to scream on the way down. He did rather well, until he realised that the ground was coming up very fast, and that a pedestrian had looked up and spotted him plummeting towards them, now actually screaming. He did actually think for a split second that he was going to land on them, in a rather unpleasant, grisly mess- when suddenly he slowed down and stopped just inches from impact.

"Holy shit-" he breathed out, trying not to laugh at the shock on the innocent bystander's face. Now that the fear had gone, all that was left was the adrenaline, and he was still breathing heavily as he dangled in the air for a bit before ending back up on the building.

He wobbled for a second as his feet suddenly found something solid, then turned to look at Joule with the biggest, most exhilarated grin on his face. "That was slugging awesome!" he laughed as he pushed his goggles up off his face, staggering again since his legs seemed to have forgotten how to work properly, and grabbed onto Joule's arm for support.

He'd trusted him. Joule had let him fall until the last minute but Kade had trusted him. And now he was standing there before him with the most excited, adorable grin on his face, and Joule couldn't help himself; he pulled him in his arms and kissed him, while his heart was still surely racing and his body was buzzing with the adrenaline.

"Wanna do it again?" he broke into a grin. "Except this time we both do it. From much higher up."

He let out a surprised, pleased noise as Joule grabbed him and kissed him, his heart that had only just begun to calm down suddenly starting to race again. Damnit, why'd he have this effect on him? Grinning back at him, Kade pulled the other man into another kiss before replying.

"Hell yes," he said, grin ever present as he kissed him again. "I stop your fall, you stop mine."

[Joule]

Joule's grin faltered for a moment. "You stop mine...?" He chuckled nervously, trying not to learn his concern show. It would be unfair of him to turn down Kade's offer now, after he'd done the same. But Joule was not used to trusting people - he did everything by himself, and he only trusted himself. He was convinced that was the best way to get by in life. Yet as he stared at Kade, all his doubts and fears faded, and he found himself nodding in agreement.

"I... yeah. Yes. Okay. Let's do this."

[Zenith]

Kade grinned even wider- if that were physically possible. It was one thing to trust your own life to someone, but to have them do the same with you? That was nothing short of amazing. It felt amazing. Nobody had trusted him like this since... well, a long time.

"Awesome," he said, kissing Joule and then stepping away, lifting himself up into the air magnetically and glancing back at him. He jabbed a finger up at the sky. "Race you?"

Joule burst out laughing at the audacity of Kade's question. Was he realising that he was challenging someone to a race who could control things such as speed?

"Haha yeah sure. Loser has to blow the other~" Without another word, he darted upwards. It took him a little while to realise he didn't know where they were going.

"Eeer... Kade?"

[Zenith]

Of course Kade knew he could never beat Joule in a race, but that didn't mean it wouldn't be fun to try to. And Joule's reaction to the challenge was totally what he expected, as he watched the other man fly off and up into the sky.

Shaking his head, he launched himself up after him, laughing when Joule realised that he had no idea where he was supposed to be going and looked for him. "Come on," he said as he took the opportunity to fly past him, shooting up for several meters before stopping and hovering.

"Hey, I've got an idea." He pointed off on the horizon, where a storm was gathering. "We do it there."

[Joule]

"This doesn't mean you won, hot shot!!"

He tried to pout as he flew over to Kade, but he broke into laughter as soon as he was up to him, feeling drunk on happiness and excitement.

"Let's do it here Kaaaade~" he chuckled like an immature teenager. Then his expression grew a little more serious. "I... I trust you."

[Zenith]

Kade grinned as Joule flew over laughing, and snorted at his immature little joke. His smile faltered for a moment at 'I trust you'. Sure, he'd shown him that he trusted him, but he hadn't said it out loud. At least not yet. And here Nat was, admitting it. Somehow, it was the best feeling in the world.

His smile returned, and he held out his hand for him. "Yeah. I trust you, too."

He had meant he trusted Kade not to make a mistake. That was all. That was all there was to it. He simply believed in Kade's skills when it make to his powers. That was it. Or at least that's what he kept telling himself.

And then Kade had said he trusted him too. He trusted him with his life and he had said it. The rush he had felt must have been because he was proud Kade trusted his powers, right? That was the only reasonable explanation.

"Let the mighty fall then~" with a kiss on his cheek, he let himself go.

[Zenith]

"Tch, yeah."

Let the mighty fall.

He leaned back, then let himself fall, head first after Joule. This time, the rush was more than just from the drop- he could feel it as he looked over at the other man plummeting to the earth alongside him. He wasn't quite sure what it was, but he could feel it.

And it was amazing.

[Joule]

He wasn't alone.

He had been to parties and clubs and commanded the attention of hundreds, he had flown with heroes and birds and planes and storms and the moon and the sun and the stars, he had been on the 3v with thousands of fans watching and he had had fan nights organised for him with thousands of people crying out his name, and he had been around so many, countless of people in his life.

But now, more than any other time, he didn't feel alone. He was there in the sky and there was a moon and a setting sun both on the same sky and there were people going by below, and all that mattered to Joule was one, one who fell with him, one who trusted him, one whom he trusted.

He let go of any doubt or nervousness. Kade would catch him. There was nothing in the world to worry about. Nothing.

As he fell he turned around, with his back to the ground, to look at the other man.

Kade wasn't sure why this was making him feel the way it was. He'd done things like this before, dropping from the sky and catching himself at the last second. So why was this different? Because someone else was catching him?

He didn't know. All he knew was that this was making him feel alive. Trusting someone like this- no, not someone. Trusting Nat. Doing this together. He... wanted to do everything with him. Live with him. For him. Was that strange? It felt sort of strange. Mildly familiar.

Grinning down at the man falling below him, he tucked his arms and legs in to make himself fall a bit faster, to catch up with him.

[Joule]

As if having read his mind, sharing the same thought at the same time - this seemed to happen a lot with Kade - Joule spread his arms and legs out, so the other could catch up with him. He could have used his powers to slow himself down but he liked it better this way. More fun.

It took several attempts and them bumping into each other until eventually he managed to lock hands with the other man. The movies made everything seem much easier. There was a cool, wet sensation on his face - traces of tears from the sheer speed and force of the drop running up his cheeks and drying almost instantly. Heartly smile on his face, he squeezed Kade's hands. He didn't know why he did that. He didn't know why he was holding his hands either. All he knew was that he was happy.

[Zenith]

Falling with his hands locked in Nat's, he smiled back just as warmly, returning the squeeze. He wondered what this looked like to the people below. Two men falling from the sky, holding hands. Then he realised that he didn't actually care about that- he didn't care about anything else other than Nat, right now. Using their hands as an anchor, he managed to pull himself in closer and kiss him, before the force of falling pushed him back.

[Joule]

He didn't think his heart could beat any faster. He didn't think he could feel any more alive. Yet Kade proved him wrong with a single kiss, before being forced away again, and Joule found himself trying to follow him, as if tied to him by a string, only to realise that he could not beat gravity, not without using his powers.

As the ground approached he stared at Kade, then let go of his hands, pushing himself away from him. It was a strange kind of logic. If they were holding onto each other, then when he stopped Kade he would also technically be stopping himself. But he didn't want to. He wanted Kade to be entirely responsible to catch him. A strange kind of logic. But he did it anyway.
